The Pop music appeared in the United States in the 50's. The musical style is marked by the preservation of this structure of music: "verse - chorus - verse", performed sensitively and melodic, usually assimilated by a large audience. Are still characteristics of Pop singers the habit of extravagant shows and scenarios, lots of dancing and countless other devices. 80's Pop can be summed up in two phenomena: Michael Jackson since his album “Thriller” became the biggest seller of all time (104.5 million copies by 2006) and Madonna with her pop dance. Michael and Madonna did so successfully that are considered "king" and "queen" of Pop, respectively.
No rundown of 80s pop music would be complete without mentioning the hair metal mega-bands of the late 80's. From Poison and Def Leppard to Guns n Roses and Bon Jovi, these bands topped the pop charts in the second half of the decade. Bon Jovi was the first to hit the #1 Billboard spot in November of 1986 with "You Give Love a Bad Name." 1987 saw two number ones from hair metal bands, Bon Jovi again with "Livin' on a Prayer" and then Whitesnake with "Here I Go Again" later in the year. 1988 would be the apogee of heavy metal's penetration into the pop charts with number one songs by Cheap Trick, Guns N Roses, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi and Poison.
E-MUSIC
A repetitive music, robotic, almost hypnotic, pop and dance has been the success of nightclubs around the world since the 80's.You can’t talk about electronic music without talking about the "Disco" (70's) that had great importance in the emergence of the "E-Music". Contrary to what a lot of people talk, the electronic music has never been but an acoustic sound. They say it's over but it actually just broke down into several subgenres. In the beginning were the gays and blacks who really kept the dance music alive. The electronic music emerged in Chicago in the 80's, with the work of producers who took samples of the Disco and added on top of that new hit "pushy". Can be summarized as "the music produced from non-instruments, or instruments adapted to produce sound modified by electricity." Lovers of electronic music have created a typical behavior, with a fashion own and holding parties in rural areas, called raves, which occur preferentially at sites, outdoors or in sheds. The use of synthetic drugs such as Ecstasy, which potentiate the effect of music, also characterizes this behavior. -DJ Larry Levan and Frankie Bones are among the most known and sucessfull DJs of the 80's (http://www.revistatag.com.br/web/index.php/component/content/article/47-news/tagnews/331-a-historia-da-musica-eletronica) (http://lazer.hsw.uol.com.br/musica-eletronica.htm) (http://www.brasilescola.com/artes/pop.htm) (http://www.liketotally80s.com/80s-pop-music.html) (http://www.michaeljackson.com/us/official-photos/1286542)
